challenges
The conversion of the ventilation system had to be carried out during ongoing hospital operations. This required precise planning and implementation. The ventilation system in the operating theater is linked to the system in the intensive care unit and other areas. Willers had to provide a solution that could supply all areas without restriction. Smooth coordination with the responsible parties was therefore crucial to the success of the project. The system also had to be as easy to maintain as possible to ensure the most economical operation.
SOLUTIONS
All operations can be performed in the four identical and discipline-independent operating theaters. As these are integrated operating theaters, the image and video-supported operations are better documented and are therefore even safer. The new operating theaters operate on a purely antiseptic basis. The infrastructure in the pre- and post-operative areas has been adapted accordingly. A new refrigeration system in conjunction with a new regulation system and new control components ensures a constant temperature of 18 degrees in the rooms and significantly reduces the risk of failure. In addition, we redesigned all the control equipment and changed its mode of operation from pneumatic to electric. The fans in the central ventilation system were equipped with frequency converters, which guarantees efficient operation in line with demand. The measures also pay off for the environment: The energy requirement for the operating theater was sustainably reduced by 5%.
